Handbook 5
"The LUDA Assessment Decision Support System"

Handbook 5 is different from the other handbooks in the compendium, in that it is a series of online resources interlinked between each other and linked with other documents comprising the compendium. Handbook 5 aims at providing the reader with guidance on proceedings and methods in sustainable urban regeneration, by answering the following questions:

What issues need to be considered during the process of sustainable urban regeneration?
LUDA Regeneration Process Framework presents the five main dimensions of sustainable urban regeneration that also form the structure of the assessment methods database.

What methods and techniques are the most suitable in specific situations?
Assessment methods and techniques help to collect and analyse various types of data, and, therefore, provide evidence base for the strategic, well thought out planning that should precede the implementation of any regeneration initiatives. To use the searchable database of the assessment methods and techniques that have been recognised as the most applicable to the LUDA Regeneration Process, as detailed in handbook 4, go to Select method.

How to carry out the LUDA Regeneration Process to make the urban regeneration more sustainable?
Good advice for every task in the LUDA Regeneration Process can be found in Protocol.

What are the most useful sources of information about sustainable urban regeneration and assessment in sustainable urban regeneration?

To learn about sources of additional information go to Further reading. LUDA Assessment Decision Support System is designed for urban practitioners, local authorities, regeneration professionals and other organisations and individuals involved in the sustainable regeneration of large urban distressed areas. However, it is also intended as an open resource for anyone interested in urban regeneration and its assessment.
