The
Municipal district of Lisbon territory is a part of what is called
the "Great Lisbon", with 12 municipal districts, over
which the town retains the presidency.
The municipal district of Lisbon has three purposes:
- To maintain and safeguard the total organisation of the “Great
Lisbon”
- To safeguard the interests of the local Committees
- To promote the technical and local modernisation
