| Particularly
important tool in urban redevelopment of Lyon is a method of the
public dialogue, as an innovative participation method initiated
by local authorities of Grand Lyon and developed into a current
form by Mission Prospective.
The Greater Lyon’s “Plan of Action for a Technological
Metropolis” stresses innovation basic theme of development.
The methodology uses new public management tools and stresses
the motivation role of local government. The Plan of Action aims
to create synergies between companies and academic research and
brings together scientific research, education and industry on
one site. It is seen as the symbol of Lyon’s emergence into
the age of development. The strategy for Gerland elaborated and
implemented by the Mission, bases on four main dimensions: social
- proximity, economic/cultural - image, environmental - green
development and translocation - connections; they redirect the
area towards the overall city structure, form which Gerland was
long isolated.
