LUDA project - Improving the quality of live in large urban distressed areas

Manchester

The regeneration frame for East Manchester belongs to overall context of the City Pride Prospectus (1994), setting a long-term vision and strategic framework for the economic and social regeneration of the core of the Greater Manchester conurbation, to assure sustainable growth and regeneration based upon partnership and the full involvement of communities. There is a clear need to break the persistent cycle of deprivation and exclusion. More sustainable communities must be created through an integrated programme of economic, social and environmental development. Manchester should become a more economically inclusive and accountable city, able to deliver better quality and cost effective services that address local needs to improve the quality of life of the residents.
