Antwerp

City of Antwerp is generally characterised by the great amount of underused industrial and harbour areas and, at the same time, by great lack of the public green space. The city is progressively using these areas and the definition of green standards to improve the provision of green areas in the city and to transform the distressed areas into the areas of high life quality.
The aims of the municipality are to attract investors that could provide better residential and commercial land use with the public acceptance and support for the on-going process. Stakeholder participation is strengthened through public-private partnership projects as well as the exchange and cooperation with citizens; governmental and non-governmental funds are used for the implementation of the projects within the overall vision.
